スペインのイグアラダを拠点とするMaribaudiは、クラフトマンシップ、革新性、持続可能性を追求するアートプロジェクト・ファッションブランド。古着やデッドストックの生地や糸、天然素材を用いて、Maribaudiならではの現代的なアップサイクル技術によって、手作業で限定生産の一点ものを制作しています。
ブランドの哲学は、100％持続可能なクリエイションを保証するために、持っているもの・見つけたもの・譲り受けたものを最大限に活用すること。
古着のアップサイクルは、SOLIDANÇA / Roba Amiga とのコラボレーションでもあります。Roba Amiga は、カタルーニャ州全土に設置されているコンテナボックスによる中古衣類の収集と、社会的に弱い立場にある人たちを対象にした雇用創出活動を行なっているプロジェクトです。
Maribaudiのアイテムは、私たちが暮らしている資本主義社会、過剰生産、低品質な製品の流通、芸術的表現の欠如に対する間接的なアンチテーゼであると、デザイナーのMarは話します。
一見するとなにかに作り替えることが不可能に思えるような素材を使って魅力的なものを作りたい。「なぜ」「どうやって」と問いかけられるような楽しいものでありたい。見た瞬間に何かが閃くような作品でありたい。
それらを重要視しながら、コンテンポラリー・アートとデザインの間に存在し、両分野に定義された固定概念を打ち破ることをめざすMaribaudi。Art to wear ＝ 着るアートを体現したそのアイテムを自由な解釈で身につけて楽しんでみてください。
