エレン・フライスの雑誌『PURPLE』にも影響をうけました。エレン・フライスのExhibitionがもうすぐ東京で開催されるということで、このブログトピックを思いつきました。
『PURPLE PROSE』のタイトルの語呂が好きで意味が気になり調べていた時に、Purpleを含んだイディオムには、良い意味のものや良くない意味のもの、様々あることを知り、とても面白く感じました。
たとえば、
purple prose＝ 凝った表現が多過ぎる文体
purple patch＝好調な時期
purple with rage＝顔を真っ赤にして怒る
purple rain＝豪雨
marry into the purple＝お金持ちの家に嫁ぐこと
purple cow＝珍しいもの
Purpleの色や意味がもつ複雑性や、一つのイメージで片付かない無所属な感じにも、とても惹かれます。
特定のジャンルやイメージに偏らず、無国籍で多国籍な店でありたいと思いつつ、いろんなところから「異」をインプットして独自の編集でアウトプットすることは、日本らしい気もします。
とにかく、エレン・フライスの展示がとても楽しみです！
